Eligible candidates are graduate students, doctoral candidates, and post-doctoral fellows who have completed a dissertation or thesis, as well as individuals who have recently entered into a career focused on human or animal research protections and have published a manuscript in a peer reviewed journal within five years of earning their degree. Most importantly, eligible candidates can identify a research project/initiative that they are actively participating in/ will facilitate to support the advancement of ethical research.

Individuals of any age are welcome to apply, and the review committee will consider:

  • The applicant's academic or professional accomplishments;
  • The relevance of past activities, particularly those consonant with PRIM&R's mission;
  • The content and quality of any publications;
  • The general sense of a fit between the purpose of the Pillars of PRIM&R Fund and the applicant.

While important, the length of service or longstanding involvement with PRIM&R is not a major determinant. The principal criteria are professional accomplishments, commitment to the mission of advancing ethical research, and contributions to PRIM&R.
