Pillars of PRIM&R Eligibility Criteria, Award Components, and Application
Eligible candidates are individuals who have entered into a career focused on human or animal research protections within the last seven (7) years, as well as graduate students, doctoral candidates, and post-doctoral fellows who have completed a dissertation or thesis. Most importantly, eligible candidates can identify a proposed or ongoing research project/initiative that they are actively facilitating to support the advancement of ethical research.
Individuals of any age are welcome to apply, and the review committee will consider:
- The applicant's academic or professional accomplishments;
- The relevance of past activities, particularly those consonant with PRIM&R's mission;
- The content and quality of any publications;
- The general sense of a fit between the purpose of the Pillars of PRIM&R Fund and the applicant.
While important, the length of service or longstanding involvement with PRIM&R is not a major determinant. The principal criteria are professional accomplishments, commitment to the mission of advancing ethical research, and contributions to PRIM&R.
The award will include:
- a stipend of at least $1,000 for the purpose described in the application;
- registration, travel, and accommodation expenses for a future PRIM&R conference which the recipient will present their research project/initiative in the medium of his/her choosing;
- recognition on PRIM&R’s website and blog; and
- a one-year PRIM&R membership.
Recipients of the Pillars of PRIM&R Award agree to:
- Use the stipend to fund the purpose identified in the application;
- Prepare a Status Report that discusses the preliminary impact/results of the initiative within six months of receiving the award. The report will be published as a PRIM&R blog post or Newsletter article (limit to one page);
- Attend, at PRIM&R’s expense, a PRIM&R conference taking place in the year following the year of the award’s receipt to present stated project/initiative in the format most amenable to recipient (e.g., poster, poster presentation, workshop, panel, etc.); and
