Speed Mentoring

Thank you for your interest in participating in this year's Speed Mentoring event, which will take place on Monday, March 22, 2010, from 6:00-7:30 PM. Based on attendee feedback, we’ve made a few changes to this year’s event, so read on for helpful information for both mentors and mentees.

What is Speed Mentoring?

Speed Mentoring is a networking event at which mentees can ask experienced IACUC professionals those "everything-you've-always-wanted-to-know-but-didn't-know-whom-to-ask" questions. Mentees will have the opportunity to interact with up to five mentors during the course of the event. Mentors, many of whom are conference faculty, are knowledgeable and high-profile professionals with decades of experience in the IACUC field.

How does the event work for mentees?

Step One: Sign up for the Speed Mentoring event while registering for the 2010 IACUC Conference or by RSVP to Joanna Cardinal.

Step Two: Check in at registration desk.

Step Three: Choose a topic for your first mentoring session, and get in the line for that topic. You can choose to be mentored on one of the following three topic areas:

  • Animal Well-Being
  • Compliance
  • IACUC Operations

Step Four: Meet with a mentor for 15 minutes.

Step Five: After your 15-minute mentoring session is over, please leave your current table and get back in line for another (or the same) mentoring topic area of your choice.

Step Six: Repeat steps two through five for the duration of the event (up to five mentoring sessions).
