Investigator 101
PRIM&R is proud to offer Investigator 101, a CD-ROM based on the successful IRB 101sm educational program for investigators. Developed in 2001 and still relevant to today’s research landscape, this CD-ROM is divided into convenient ten-minute modules and reviews the history and ethics of human subject research as well as the top ten responsibilities of investigators.
Jeff Cooper, MD, and Ada Sue Selwitz, MA, two leaders in the fields of research ethics and the regulation of research, designed this course on CD-ROM so that research staff and investigators can easily and effectively learn the ethical and legal issues related to the conduct of research with human subjects.
How can I get a copy of Investigator 101?
The Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP) distributes the Investigator 101 CD-ROM to entities that hold an approved Department of Health and Human Services Assurance (FWA or MPA). Please contact OHRP at 301.496.7005 for more information.

Is Continuing Medical Education (CME) available?
Please note that CME credits are no longer available for this program. However, those seeking CME may watch the CD-ROM, complete the post-test exam, and send the test to PRIM&R for scoring. Please send the test, with your contact information, to: PRIM&R, Attn: Investigator 101, 126 Brookline Avenue, Suite 202, Boston, MA 02215. See page 10 of the American Medical Association’s Physician Recognition Award and credit system handbook for more information about Category 2 credit. Please see below for more information about the certificate of completion.
