Press Release
Animal Rehoming and Euthanasia, Sex Bias in Research, and more at IACUC20
February 20, 2020
Orlando, Fl, April 5-7 — PRIM&R’s 2020 Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee Conference (IACUC20) will bring 500 professionals to discuss the use of animals in research, animal welfare, and value of this research to the public. Complimentary on-site attendance and video recordings are both available to members of the media.
When a study ends, how do we ethically consider what happens to the animals involved? To what extent is it a problem that most research is done on male animals, and how do we fix it? Voices from industry (including Pfizer and AbbVie), academia (Princeton, University of Michigan, and dozens more), and the federal government (NIH, USDA, and more) will be on-site to engage their peers in sessions such as When the Study Is Over—Considerations for Reuse, Rehoming, Euthanasia, and More and Sex Bias in Research. These two sessions, along with several more from the full agenda, will be recorded and available free upon request to media representatives after the conference. View the full agenda, with more than 60 sessions, on our conference website.
In addition to recorded sessions, complimentary on-site registration for IACUC20 is available for credentialed journalists from health, medical, science, and policy outlets or beats. The conference takes place April 5-7 at the Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld® in Orlando, Florida.
