CPIA Council

About the CPIA Council

The Council for Certified Professionals in IACUC Administration (CPIA Council) is charged with overseeing the examination content, eligibility guidelines, and recertification guidelines for the Certified Professionals in IACUC Administration credential.  The CPIA Council is made up of a group of certified, volunteer subject-matter experts who reflect the diversity of skills, expertise, and backgrounds of the IACUC field. The CPIA Council works closely with both PRIM&R and with PSI, the company that provides professional testing and management services, in developing exam questions and examinations.

Council member responsibilities include drafting and editing exam questions; reviewing exam forms; and reviewing exam and recertification applications. The CPIA Council works with PRIM&R and PSI to ensure that exam content, as well as the eligibility and recertification criteria, align with current practice.

The CPIA Council is overseen by the Certification Committee of the PRIM&R Board of Directors. The Certification Committee puts out calls for new members approximately every eighteen months. Council members serve three-year terms, with an option to renew.
