  • IACUC Educational Resources Incorporating Active Learning

    The IACUC educational modules presented here were developed as part of two Train-the-Trainers Institutes (TTIs) that PRIM&R convened in 2016 during the first phase of the Interagency Collaborative Animal Research Education (ICARE) Project. Partner ICARE agencies included the National Institutes of Health Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare, the United States Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, the National Science Foundation, the Food and Drug Administration, and the Department of Veterans Affairs. The goal of the TTIs was to train national-level IACUC educators in the use of active learning pedagogy as a way to enhance the effectiveness of their IACUC training programs.     These educational modules are intended to be used and adapted by IACUC trainers who are seeking to incorporate active learning into their educational programs. Each module is directed toward a specific target audience, including IACUC members and IACUC staff. Each module contains a PowerPoint presentation, with goals and objectives to be reached through the use of active learning techniques. Some modules contain supporting documentation, such as facilitator guides, to accompany the information within the presentations.

    PRIM&R encourages those who integrate these and other activities into their own training programs to share their slides and materials for possible addition to these resources. If you would like to add to this body of knowledge, please email us at info@primr.org.
