Each fall, PRIM&R hosts its Advancing Ethical Research (AER) Conference, which is geared toward those working in human subjects protections, research ethics, and oversight. This event brings together 2,500 professionals from public and private institutions, the federal government, industry, and academia, to learn, deconstruct, discuss, and debate, and to network with colleagues in the field. And, biennially, we offer the Social, Behavioral, and Educational Research (SBER) Conference in conjunction with the AER Conference—a one day event geared specifically to those reviewing and overseeing social/behavioral research.
In 2021, PRIM&R will offer the SBER and AER Conferences in a fully virtual format. This online event will take place over four days during a single week:
- November 16: SBER21
- November 16: AER21 Preconference Programs
- November 17-19: AER21
Though the availability of a COVID-19 vaccine makes us incredibly hopeful that we will be able to return to in-person events again soon, there is still uncertainty around when it will be safe to gather in large groups. From audience surveys, we found that many of you were not confident about traveling this fall, may have budget constraints for travel, and/or are hesitant around the vaccine rollout and new variant strains.
Our priority is to ensure the safety and well-being of our community and offer an excellent conference experience while giving you plenty of time make budget decisions. This year’s AER Conference will include three days of keynote, panels, and breakout sessions, afternoon networking sessions, engagement tools that will allow for maximum interaction among attendees, and opportunities to watch content live and on demand as busy schedules allow. On November 16, we’ll offer our SBER Conference, as well as a variety of topic-specific half-day preconference programs for in-depth learning and discussion with your peers.
Conference fees will be posted later this spring, and registration information and the conference agendas will be available by July.
